BMEN Programs
BMEN brings Black men together monthly for two hours in a supportive network where they can share mental health support, and connect on a variety of topics in community.
BMEN and The Transgender Emergency fund host a first-ever of its kind series of events that brings straight Black men and Trans women together to have important dialogue around the stigmas and barriers that exist and inhibit their mutual understanding and impact their lives. The first event brought together 20 Black Trans women and Black men, giving space for the transwomen to share topics such as navigating life and the dangers of being a transwoman, taboos about their sexuality, and the need to live regular lives.
BMEN partners with community members and organizations run a six session workshop series for all men, as well as a space specifically for Black men. Men use this space to process experiences of causing sexual harm, as well as explore harm intervention strategies. Participants in the workshop also share stories, are introduced to circle practice and transformative justice frameworks, and engage in community accountability work related to sexual violence.
BMEN supports initiatives and events reflecting issues relevant to black men and the black community, including but not limited to, partnering on events, promoting programs, and engaging community issues relevant to BMEN’s values.
BMEN has supported black and marginalized communities through providing funding for protective equipment and essential support items related to COVID19 support. BMEN has also provided gas cards/gift cards for individuals picking up and dropping off donations to black and marginalized communities.
* Covid19 Support will be provided until funding is depleted

To build community
Black men need supportive communities. Many black men are isolated and may not have access to places to process their experiences. Support groups are important to black men’s health and well being
