SUMMARY:Community Sexual Violence Info series
DESCRIPTION:We’re inviting people to attend a community info session on sexual violence response and community accountability work with men who have caused harm. The info session will occur on January 16th from 6-9pm at the Democracy Center in Cambridge. It is open to people of all genders\, but we’re focusing on working with men around our responsibility to take accountability for sexual violence and harm that men cause in our communities. \n*We believe that all men are connected to sexual harm that happens in our communities regardless of whether we identify as having caused accute harm or not – and we also believe that men can be part of the process of addressing the root causes of this harm. \nHere’s our agenda: \n6-7pm \nOpening and grounding in trauma informed community care practices \nLarge talking circle asking participants to share name\, experience in this work and motivation/stake in this work \nBreak \n715-8pm \nReport back from attending the “Fumbling Toward Repair” workshop in NYC in October 10th-12th\, 2019 \n Reporting back on our summer time pilot group with men around “community sexual violence response preparedness” \n Answering questions about our up-coming 6 session group in February and March of 2020. \n Break \n8-9pm \nSmall group brainstorm around hopes and challenges about the direction of community accountability work related to sexual violence from all community members who feel that they have a stake in it \nClosing circle/grounding
